Synopsis

Two 1893 Montana cowboys turn sleuth and sidekick in this Wild West Holmes pastiche, the first of a prospective series. As a joke on red-headed brothers Gustav "Old Red" and Otto "Big Red" Amlingmeyer, someone suggests a reading aloud of the new Sherlock Holmes story, "The Red-Headed League." The tale unexpectedly gets Old Red addicted to both Holmes's exploits and his crime-solving methods. When the brothers discover a body nearly trampled flat by cattle, the illiterate but thoughtful Old Red wonders if foul play was involved. Enlisting Big Red as an extremely reluctant Watson, Old Red decides to find the killer.
