The former host of the popular MTV dating show, Singled Out, presents in a follow-up to Belly Laughs the lighter side of parenthood’s first year, from postpartum embarrassment and baby diapers to sleep deprivation and grandparent eccentricity.
The very first page I was laughing out loud. However I dont think I will be taking any of her advice to heart! Just a funny read.
Ugh, awful. I suppose I should have guessed going into this, that a TV personality doesn't have the skills necessary to write a good book. It reads like a high school creative writing ***ignment. Even the margins and type face are huge, as if to stretch things a bit and make the required word count! The tone is painfully fast - switching topics mere sentences after starting them. And the cursing. Wow. Style critique aside, I still hate this book. McCarthy merrily tells the tale of how she's made poorly researched choices for her child. I can only hope she's exaggerated them for the sake of humor. But I'm still not laughing.
