I was afraid it might seem like a come-down [Desert Solitaire] but it does not....[This] is not a masterpiece like the other book. IIt's a treat, a light, indeterminate book, a stopover, almost perfectly written but with the beginning and the end left untold, in a career that should be more talked of.
