Synopsis

Three women whose friendship stretches back to high school reach a crossroads in this work of African-American women's fiction. Obese Whitney struggles to improve her willpower, her body, and the injuries inflicted on her self-esteem by strangers, ex-boyfriends, and family members who can't look past her weight problem. A health crisis forces Taylor to take a good, hard look at her unsatisfactory relationship with her boyfriend. Meanwhile, domineering Charisse spirals out of control when her husband decides he no longer wants to be under her thumb.
