Unconventional, warm and witty, this Georgian romance by Georgette Heyer unusually begins with a marriage rather than ending with one. When Horatia Winwood steps in to marry the Earl of Rule, the disappointed suitor of her elegant sister, it is the luxuries of high society life that she becomes entranced with rather than her husband. And yet, despite the countless misunderstandings, spats and blunders, somewhere along the line, this marriage of convenience turns into the real thing.
This book is, in actual fact, abridged. Its been skillfully done and I complement those who did it. Theres nothing jerky or patchedtogether about it. The reading is superb with appropriate action and emotion in each characters lines. One who had never read the story would never know any difference. Its just that, I have read and heard this story many times and can tell where a line or character is missing or a scene is cut short. So, if you want an unabridged version of The Convenient Marriage, this isnt for you. If you want a very skillfully done, wonderfully read abridgment, then this is definitely an excellent choice.
