This must be a reissue as I've read this series a couple of years ago. It is stunning, beautiful, and fresh. I devoured the series in just a few days. The characters are haunting and so well written that they become part of you. It's rare to find fresh fantasy that hits emotional chords within you and isn't yet another Tolkien-type hero quest adventure. Anne Bishop is one of my favorite authors.
