Sir Nicholas of Seabern kidnapped Lady Clare trying to force a marriage for control of the Isle of Desire. Finally forcing Clare to send word of her fathers death to Lord Thurston saying that she has no choice but to marry in order to protect everyone on the Isle of Desire. And could he please send three or four men to choose from. Not too big, happy, and fun loving. Sounds like a puppy. Who can read, with their own band of merry men. It sounded like she was ordering Errol Flynn-Robin Hood 1938-. Sir Gareth - The Hellhound- of Wyckmere his great gray stallion and his men-at-arms is what she got. Did I mention his sword? It has its own name! Gareth comes across as a nice guy who can read. Clare is a b*tch to Gareth and she goes from zero to sixty with tantrums like a 4 year old child! She is a 23 year old virgin who has been in charge since she was 12 years old. Saint Hermione is the irksome phrase of this book! It is the way Lady Clare swears, example: By Hermione’s Sainted Toe or elbow, eyebrow, head, etc. It is awful! Even during sex. There are 2 1/2 sex sequences in this book. In the second the author has Clare talking so much even Gareth tells her to shut up and kisses her to keep her quiet. The end of the book with all the plot twists and turns are fast and furious. I'm not sure why when it felt like the author meandered through the begining of the book. With so many male voices in these stories either they should be narrated/read by men or they really need to get two readers 1 male and 1 female. Most of these books are listened to by women. I've never read this author before so I choose this title based on all the reviews on several sites. This book was voted the best one. If this is the best this author has to offer, I will not go back for more. The author had a good outline and she didn't do anything with it. It's all there. Everyone who read it could see the potential of the story and all of the characters. Everyone but the author. It was all surface and no depth. Makes you wish she had given the story to another writer. It would have made a really good book.
