This is really an audio performance with multiple readers playing different characters. The primary reader is Simon Vance whose wonderfully pretentious English accent fits this wonderfully pretentious book, but most of the audio cast is terrible - totally miscast - and their inappropriate voices prevent you from becoming immersed in this epic saga. Dune deserved a much better recording than this. The various attempts to make this book into a movie have failed miserably and this audio performance may prove that Dune can only be enjoyed when read.
A true science fiction epic masterpiece. This book is a must-read!
Im not much of a scifi reader, but as this is something of a classic of the genre, I felt it was time. I was not the least bit disappointed in the production. The value is high, ambient noise to appropriate, voice acting very good and at times excellent. The plot and story and completely enjoyable. At 18 hours, boredom was a concern for me, but I found myself eager to do c****s as long as I could listen.
