Synopsis

Who is your inner bitch? She is the true you – the you that has been there all along but has perhaps intentionally gone into hiding or has been buried by internal and external messages about how we should behave. She is the internal you that is willing to stand up for yourself. The one who knows that a bitch is an empowered, thoughtful woman who is aware of what she needs and wants and knows how to ask for those things. She is a woman who knows that self-care is equally or more important than other-care and who prioritizes herself, knowing that if she is a priority then everything else will fall into place. She is fulfilled, because she has taken the time to explore what she wants and is willing to make and implement plans to get there. She is a woman who understands how her path, bumps and all, made her who she is and who has a vision for her path forward. Our inner bitch is true to self, in tune with what she believes and wants, compassionate, sure of herself and her values, which allows her to more fully and generously hear others and live a genuine and fulfilled life. Our society has unintentionally (perhaps) encouraged the hiding of the inner bitch through our socialization of girls into women. Little girls are often encouraged to be a lady. My dream is that moms everywhere will be encouraging their daughters to claim their inner bitches – to say what they think in thoughtful, empowered ways. We have hidden generations of inner bitches through socialization, anti-bitch messages, the curse of busyness, and the dampening of feelings. Your inner bitch will help you live your most fulfilled, authentic life. She will help you know what you want and how to work towards that while being compassionate and thoughtful. So you can step fully into your life. Now. Not later. Not waiting until X or Y happens. No more slogging through your days to get to an elusive 'someday' when you can live your life and do what you want. That time is now. Your days are your life. And you need to live them.Finding her is a journey. In this book, we discover, excavate, release, nurture, and celebrate her. This process can be accompanied by growing pains. We can feel great exultation when we stand up for ourselves and walk away feeling empowered, albeit shocked at the same time. Particularly in the beginning of the journey, we may vacillate from "Wow! I can't believe I said that. Go me!" to "I can't believe I said that. Oh no!" within seconds. But over time we can learn to quiet the inner critic who has for years contributed to the silencing. And soon the 'Oh no's' will pass more quickly, allowing the 'Go me!' to flourish and grow. Imagine what the world would be like if women were whole. We would unleash our power, increase diversity of thought and action, with amazing ripple effects in friends, colleagues, students, children – both male and female. You have one life. Don't wait to live it. Who is the essential you? How can you express her? What is it that you want out of life? How can you live your best life? And if you live your best life, what are the amazing consequences? Who would be watching and learning from you? Who would benefit from this beyond yourself? We need the unleashed thoughts and power of all people.Finding Your Inner Bitch is my story of finding and releasing my inner bitch so she, and I, could thrive, after years of hiding her which led to a myriad of issues, such as self-doubt, low self-esteem, anxiety, and eating disorders. The purpose of this book is to help women of all ages get in touch with who they are and encourage them to be confident sharing their true selves, to help them understand and embrace that they are worthy of being heard.
