Synopsis

Frank Herbert's last Dune (CHAPTERHOUSE DUNE, 1985) novel ended on a cliffhanger with a ragged band including the Reverend Mother Sheeana, Duncan Idaho, the military leader Miles Teg, and others escaping through space on a 'no-ship' called the Ithaca. Over decades later, his son Brian Hebert along with writer Kevin J. Anderson have used Hebert's notes to create HUNTERS OF DUNE, the first part of a new Dune trilogy that will conclude the epic science fiction series. As they hurtle through space, Duncan Idaho (or rather one of many 'ghola' clone of the original Duncan) must deal with two mysterious nearly godlike figure who have plans for the ship. Also, they discover that the Bene Tleilax Scytale carries the genetic code many of the most important figures from the Dune saga: Paul and Jessica Atreides, Gurney Halleck, and Xavier Harkonnen. Meanwhile back on Dune, Murbella struggles to maintain control of the new union between the Bene Gesserit and the Honored Matres. As is typical of the Dune novels, HUNTERS OF DUNES continues the tradition of blending exotic beings, secret plans, strange technology, and terrible prophecies into a rich and intoxicating brew. DUNE fans will rejoice to see that that Frank Herbert's legacy is continuing.
