Everyone at the embroidery shop, and around town, is in a flutter that a glamorous movie production is taking place in their midst. But when the star of the film is found murdered, the police suspect Marcy's mom, who made it no secret she did not care for the diva's attitude regarding her wardrobe.

Marcy might as well issue an open call for suspects, because the star had a long list of enemies. To save her mom's career and keep her from accessorizing with handcuffs, Marcy and her friends will need to stitch together the clues to catch one crafty killer who may have designs on Marcy next…

Leaving the South for a cozy time in Oregon which is another favorite place for a mystery to be set. the whole Great Northwest is excellent for mysteries in my opinion. Amanda Lees Embroidery Mystery series is a blend of cozy, procedural, entertainment and a sad love story. The story is about Marcy who runs the Seven Year Stitch, an embroidery shop in a small Oregon town. Her mother is a well known costume designer and calls with the news that she has been hired to make the costumes for a movie about a famous Bollywood actress and asked Marcy if she and her friends could help with the embroidery on the clothes. The Stitchers are all in and Marcy and her friend Reggie, an expert in Indian stitchery, go to San Francisco to get more details about the project. While discussing details with the director, Henry Beaumont, they find he isnt pleased with some of the setting for the town in India they are trying to create and Reggie tells them the Oregon town where they live is a lot like a certain part of India so they organize a location shot of the area. They have to deal with a temperamental actress who is to play the lead in the film and a tragic accident that soon begins to look like mother and Marcys mom is the number one suspect. Marcy does her own sleuthing despite the warnings of her boyfriend Ted,who works in the sheriffs department, and discovers some deep and dark secrets while running the store, supporting her mom and dealing with media and the stars addled mother. I really wasnt t sure if I would like the book since embroidery is not my thing but I liked it and felt it was a little above the normal cozy with its more serious tone at times. Another series I want to read more and catch up with when I have time. :
