Synopsis

More families than ever are trying to make it work on one income. Jill and Mark Savage share real tips for real families facing downsizing or those simply trying to live well while putting their families first. Popular speaker, author, and Hearts at Home founder Jill Savage and her husband, Mark, have been tackling these questions for the past twenty-one years. That's how long Jill has stayed at home with their five children and Mark has worked full-time as the pastor of a small church. They share their experiences in Living With Less So Your Family Has More, honestly evaluating the impact of a single-income family from both perspectives. This timely resource offers both vision and specific, practical strategies that any family can use. The Savages, writing together, look at the attitude adjustments that husbands and wives need to have to successfully live on a limited income. They then balance those attitudes with practical actions that help families live the life they long for. Sprinkled throughout are true stories from real families who have used Jill and Mark's techniques for living richly. Their honest, straightforward, have-been-in-the-trenches-right-along-with-you approach will inspire and encourage parents that they can live well while still putting their families first. Whether they've chosen to have one parent stay home or been forced to accept new circumstances, readers will learn how to appreciate the benefits of having one spouse at home while living like they have two incomes.

If you're a God/Jesus-a-phobe this is not the book for you. I expected this to be a book of clever tips and trick on how to live with less. In some sense, it is & has some of that. Though it's nothing I haven't heard before really. What I did find helpful in this book is the encouragement to live on less. Counterculutre as they call it. Much of the encouragement is based on Chrisitan beliefs. Each chapter ends with a prayer, so if this puts you off, this is not the book for you. It is a quick & empowering read.
