From the Introduction: "Until we clearly understand the true nature and purpose of Spirit baptism as presented by Luke in the book of Acts, we will never have a clear understanding of its accompanying sign—Spirit-enabled speaking in tongues. In this book I hope to demonstrate how Luke symbiotically links these two deeply spiritual experiences into a common missiological whole. I will attempt to unwrap Luke's missional understanding of speaking in tongues as presented in his two part history of Christian beginnings (Luke-Acts), and as intuitively grasped by early twentieth-century Pentecostals. In doing this, hope to begin to lay a biblical foundation concerning Luke's unique missional presentation of both the experience of Spirit baptism itself and of the missional sign that accompanies it."
