I usually love these easy to read mystery series but this one I didnt even finish. The main character isnt engaging at all. Hard to imagine someone flunking out of law school their first year. Couldnt believe the way they treated the poor abused wife with no one thinking she needed to go into a shelter. Just file divorce papers. Horrible example to put out there and anyone with a husband with violent tendencies should be counseled to seek a safe place. Just so cavalier about it all. Got through about 70 pages and couldnt take any more. Couldnt connect with this heroine on any level Im sorry to say.

The promo clip on the front of this book reads 'move over Stephanie Plum.' Well, I think Stephanie's safe right where she's at. Even though the story line reads similarly to an Evanovich (spunky female lead, steamy male ex-cop PI potential love interest, quirky work sidekicks), it's not nearly as comical and I didn’t really feel a connection with the main characters. However, the plot was decent and moved at a good clip. I'm willing to give the next one in the series a try.
