Synopsis

The first book in this projected series of mysteries set in Paris features 34-year-old Aimee Leduc, a French-American private investigator who specializes in computer forensics. The novel opens as Aimee carries out a routine assignment in which she must decode an encrypted photograph from the 1940s and return it to its rightful owner, an old Jewish woman living in the historic Jewish district of Paris known as the Marais. Upon returning the photo, Aimee finds the old woman dead with a swastika carved on her forehead. So begins a fast-paced plot in which Aimee, with the help of her vertically-challenged partner, must probe into wartime secrets and fraternize with the fiercest of neo-Nazis and anti-Semites to uncover the mystery that lurks in the shadows of the City of Lights.
