Synopsis

Two short stories by Henry James explore the intersections and tensions between art and reality, depiction and intent. In "Nona Vincent," a poor, ambitious playwright creates what he is certain is a masterpiece but despairs of the leading actress's ability to truly portray the main character. In "The Real Thing," a well-dressed couple, fallen from riches, offer to work as an illustrator's models, confident that their background makes them ideal for the roles they are to portray.
