Synopsis

If nine out of ten of your neighbors said they preferred a new type of pie over their prior favorite, wouldn't you want to try it?
The main reason that government in the United States is not effectively addressing important problems, such as global warming, getting out of the Middle East military nightmare and resolving the civilian gun control debate, is because it is constrained by an outmoded form of democracy. This form of democracy is designed to serve the narrow agendas of special interest groups. Only 1 in 4 Americans endorse this special interest group form of democracy. 9 of 10 would prefer government that serves them as members of the community overall, rather than as members of competing special interest groups.Opinion polls of citizens using several questions per issue yield reliable information about what citizens want from government. The majority of liberals, conservatives, Occupy activists and the majority of citizens who do not strongly identify with any of these groups all want the same things, a very constructive government agenda.
This majority wants:a peaceful foreign policyshare economicsa balanced national budgetcivilian gun controlrespectful treatment of minority ethnic groupsegalitarian treatment of womenaffordable education and housingfamily wage jobsaffordable healthcare for all. A minority endorses fundamentalist religious beliefs, a warmongering foreign-policy, political domination of minority groups and government that favors elite, super-wealthy citizens.
Because the majorities of both liberals and conservatives endorse a very constructive agenda for government, and an agenda that serves the common good rather than special interest groups, the researcher who has discovered these findings by 11 years of original studies offers a design for a new political party that would unite most liberal and conservative citizens and those between. This party will poll citizens periodically to discover what they want from government and use this for its platform.  Its candidates for public office will serve this agenda and rely only on the party for campaign funds.
This party's elected candidates will promote government that serves citizens as members of the community overall, the common good.
You, the reader, are encouraged to create this new party as a promotional activist, one who creates a new institution without first tearing down outmoded ones.  You and your friends can create chapters of this party in your community. If you are successful, there is hope that we can quickly address global warming and other serious problems that threaten the human species.
A tall order, but take heart, for 9 of 10 of your fellow citizens would prefer what you'll be preparing to serve them.  Try it.  You'll like it.  Bon appetit!
