Synopsis

This subtle indictment of the brazen attitude the public school system often takes toward children who may have behavioral problems traces the relationship between author Ginsberg and her young son, Blaze, who was classified as a special needs child in kindergarten. Though a battery of tests provided no conclusive evidence that Blaze had a specific, treatable problem, the schools nonetheless essentially discarded him, leaving Ginsberg to figure out just how to educate her son.
