This year, the Minnesota State Fair—where the heady aroma of grease, beer, and livestock compels folks to consume anything on a stick—has become a murder scene. In September Fair we find Mira James, ***istant librarian and part-time reporter for the Battle Lake Recall, at the State Fair where she is covering the beauty pageant to elect Milkfed Mary, Queen of the Dairy. When the winner Ashley Pederson, a native of Battle Lake, Minn., turns up dead, Mira promises Ashley's mother to find out what happened. In her effort to solve Ashley's murder, Mira uncovers some one is embezzling from the Fair and a big dairy company is putting everyone at risk with bad business practices.Jess Lourey always put Mira through a fun adventure and this one does not disappoint there is even a Neil Diamond concert that proves people can be silly no matter their age! We also follow Mira on a journey of closure from her old life to when she discovers that maybe she really does enjoy living in Battle Lake.
