Synopsis

Evyn is a young Welsh serf who dreams of becoming a storyteller until a savage beating leaves him deaf, mute, and orphaned. He is soon sold into slavery but manages to improve his position in life when he learns to read and write. Evyn's success leads him into the service of Harold Godwin, the Earl of Wessex, who eventually becomes King of England. When King Harold is betrayed, Evyn remains his close confidant and joins him at the Battle of Hastings--the battle that will decide the fate of their country.
