Baum was a prolific writer as he is credited with over 50 novels, 200 poems, and close to 100 short stories. Baum remains one of the most widely read and influential writers in the fantasy fiction genre. The Master Key, published in 1901, is a novel that follows the life and adventures of a young boy named Rob Joslyn. Rob is an electrical experimenter who is suddenly met by the "demon of electricity" who gives the boy a few gifts.
