To really enjoy this truly epic saga the 4 books must be listened to in order: Summertide, Divergence, Transcendence, Convergence. Sheffield may not write great literature, but he has an extraordinary imagination that is equal to the best science fiction writers. The characters are 3-dimensional and interesting and the distant future in which they live is as fascinating as any imagined. Geoffrey Howard is the perfect reader for this series and fortunately he is the reader of all 4 books. If you like science fiction, this series is one of the best.
