Synopsis

Even after being decimated by the financial crisis, the middle class is still slowly but surely having the economic life strangled out of it.  In August 2013, only forty-four percent of Americans had full-time jobs, and that was down from 2012.  What is being done about it? Nothing. They yap about the budget deficit. Any fool knows that one of the main ways to reduce the deficit is to put people back to work so they will pay taxes.  They know that it is the small and medium-sized businesses that are creating most of the jobs, not the largest businesses.  If they (Congress) can shovel $700 Billion to the greedy incompetents on Wall Street, they can get financing to the businesses that create jobs. They should also be encouraging and funding people who want to start their own businesses.  They know this, but they don't care.  They would rather play their ridiculous political games.  They also know that seventy percent of our economy is the middle class consumer.  How can you suppress the income of seventy percent of the American people and expect to have a strong economy? By intentionally shrinking the middle class, they are killing the goose that lays the golden egg.  Our battle cry must be: "We are the economy, stupid!"Education is the great equalizer. It epitomizes our belief in (and commitment to) equal opportunity and fairness for all.  It is the main factor giving each American a chance for a better life, regardless of background.  It is the main catalyst for the talent and skills of our people, and it helps make our country the greatest. If we are to maintain our standing in the world and keep the American Dream alive, our government must invest our tax dollars in us, the people, by providing the best education and training in the world.  If our educational system declines, our country will decline.  It really is that simple.  Education is an investment, not an expense.
