Synopsis

The 16th book in Peter Robinson's critically acclaimed Inspector Banks series follows doggedly competent Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks as he investigates the death of a music journalist who specialized in music from the 1960s and 70s. The novel uses music to bridge two very different eras as Banks's investigation expands to include a possibly connected murder that occurred in 1969. The story jumps back and forth between the 1969 case, overseen by gruff Detective Inspector Stanley Chadwick, and Banks's narrative, taking place more than 30 years later.
