Synopsis

After his return to New York, Philip Bradley simply cannot forget Rachel Yoder and her little daughter Annie. Rachel's cheerful Christian witness and her appealing, uncomplicated lifestyle beckon him amid hectic deadlines and high-tech lifestyles. Months pass as he struggles to cope, but Philip finds he must know, once and for all, if he truly loves the soft-spoken Amish widow. On sabbatical, he returns to Lancaster County and immerses himself in the ways of the Plain People, the soil, and the heavenly Father. To his delight, Rachel returns his love, and they discover a bond that cannot be explained away. But the affirmation of their love is not without agony, and Philip must make a painful decision: join his beloved and her Anabaptist faith, or return without her to modern life. Rachel has suffered unbearable heartache; will her love for Philip only bring more of the same? Or will Philip's life-changing experience alter the course of his entire life?
