I'd like to rate this book higher but 2 things make it hard to do so. The first is that it reads like an oversized textbook so if you're one of those people who read their biology book from cover to cover in Junior High/Middle school then this book is for you because the book will overwhelm the average prson with information that is one clearly does not need in order to understand the basics and execute the fast. True, we need to know the role of our liver, colon and the like but do we really need to know every chemical change and what it may metabolize into right down to its minutae? Probably not... Secondly it was badly organized. Being badly organized makes any process a book is trying to explain harder to understand. Everyone has their preferences but if I had my choice, I would have her give us info on the Prequel, The Fast and The Sequel in that order without adding a textbook in between each section. After all, she just spent several chapters talking about every function our body hasanyway. So there's no need to repeat herself. But that's what she does. She'll tell you what to eat and why (which is scattered) but I think it would have been better to ***ume that when reading this book, we are also building a grocery list so it would help to have the grocery list given first, THEN the stages of the fast, what to eat, how to prepare it and why. Otherwise, we start making grocery lists (which become confusing when she inserts another biology lesson) only to find that she already had one IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK! Also, somehow in between the chapter on her prequel (prep for a fast) and the fast or the sequel she throws in something about meditation...... *sigh* I've had to go back through it a few times and even look through the hardcopy of it before executing this fast. So far, it's ok but with all the confusion, it's hard to tell if I'm even doing it right! So should you read this, good luck but keep the above in mind. You may enjoy it more jsut because you've been briefed on some of its drawbacks!
