This author seemed determined to portray what it would be like if this really happened. The characters are like real people, not romanticized versions of what people wish real people were like. I see criticism of this story because the main character is self centered, well, how would you feel if this happened to you??? Think about it and you'll realize you probably would react the same way. That's the point. She is realistic, the author didn't try to over romanticize any of the characters. Some of them are rude, some are shy, some are self centered, etc. Just like real people. Still, the story is excellent and the combination makes for a very good book indeed. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the preternatural/supernatural.

This author writes really well becasue I really disliked the heroine who was incredibly self centered and lacking in insight, but I kept wanting to see what was going on. The book was easy to read and had a good flow to it. In spite of the heroine I recommend this book.
